OpenWeb uncapped gold, worth the extra cash?

Hi,

I'm currently pondering getting one of these accounts. I've currently got MWEB uncapped 384. Would I have any benefit in terms of overall download speeds if I went with one of these accounts? MWEB is currently dying (on my side anyways) because of the SEACOM outage. I assume the OpenWeb account will have the exact same issues?

I'm on Openweb 384K uncapped gold.. And except for the first day or 2 where everyone was panicking and scrambling, I've had pretty decent performance.
 
Nothing else I can really compare it to; I never tried any of the other ISPs. I was on normal 384k uncapped and the gold definitely seems to be more consistent ito speed.

I know there are cheaper accounts out there but I've always been with Openweb so happy to pay a bit more for ease-of-use.
 
4 meg gold here !

was worth it for me alot faster loading times during the day, and i can actually download during the day :) after hours is pretty similar though.
 
The gold accounts have better contention ratios and less shaping. Definitely worth it.
 
I am very interested in one of these accounts. I may start with the Standard account, and then move over to Gold if I find that I need it.

I'm still with mweb at the moment. First month with 4meg from them so giving them a chance with this seacom stuff. Already did 220gigs this month.

Problem is with mweb speed is quite variable. Sometimes youtube works without needing to buffer, sometimes not. I know people on this forum and others that have been nothing less than totally happy with their GOLD accounts. That's why I'll most likely be moving to them soon.
 
Well Ive been on 4meg gold, this will be my 2nd month.
Before the seacom outage it was fast and responsive and downloaded 200+gigs.

But since the outage even on gold, I suffer from sudden timeouts on pages as well as hectic game lag.
I'm hoping its the outage and will look more heavily into after the repair.

But I would say, so far, the gold 4meg is pretty good value for money.
 
Thanx, this mweb phoning people is a bit worrying :D. Although i am not a power user only like 150-200gb :D.
 
150-200gb not a power user what do you download and where do you get the time to use watch all this data you are consuming ?

Movies and series. Well at night i watch them. Better than watching episodes on dstv, no ads thank goodness.

since mweb introduced uncapped i've been doing between 200GB and 350GB. yet to get the call. but who knows it might just come.

anyone have a link to the T&Cs for this Gold Uncapped account?
