Hi,

So is it just me that has noticed how much extra bandwidth the VPN uses? Its just over double the usage on the local pppOe vs the vpn connection. Anyone else experienced this or am i doing something wrong? At this rate, you might as well get a 5gig account for the same price, and not have to worry about the VPN crap... This is downloading P2P, if that makes any diff...

Its normal with PPTP on Windows....Have the same issue - although the usage looks high on your side, its actually about 10% less on the Openweb VPN Bandwidth monitoring system (My Mate works on the servers of the VPN system...)

The overheads arnt that high. The Difference in MTU between the ADSL and VPN is like 2-3%. Are you dailing it with windows or a router? are you sure you are using the default settings?

lol. No your problem is the monitoring software your using. I'm betting its netmeter?;)

It's monitoring the same data twice. Once on the VPN interface and once on the PPPoE.

Flows are individual TCP/UDP Streams - ignore those....
Packets are total number of packets - also pretty useless....

the Bytes in is how much bandwidth you've used "X G"

Sweet! That's only about 60% of what the IS usage tracker is saying. Good to know, thanks! Is it up to date, or was it only a snapshot?

They are pretty good, On Par with OpenVPN. OpenVPN works out cheaper though because it's capped - I only have it because I transfer about 120Gigs per month...
