Opera 9

That's the whole point of Firefox. Alot of people don't need any extensions and shiz, now you can only install what you want/need.

I have been using Opera since I bought it at around version 6.5 (maybe earlier) and have never looked back. It is definitely the fastest browser around. Started tabbed browsing. Some things I prefer over Firefox:

1) Prefer the RSS handling system
2) Impersonate options and Site preferences
3) Compliance with standards. Test with opera and your page will probably work with the others just fine
4) I prefer the Cached Image handling to Firefox
5) The Trash feature is cool
6) I prefer the MDI look and feel

I could go on. It just feels right to use.

haha that sounds like a contradiction, "a lot of people don't need exstentions" as an argument for Firefox :p

The difference is that Opera comes with all these things (built in email client, IRC client, torrent downloader etc) but they aren't even activated on the menus or anything until you start to use them, oh and it's still smaller than Friefox despite having hundreds more features, says something for FF's coding...

guys in all honesty i think its personal preference because both do the same thing just as well as the other

so basically its like intel amd ati nvidia

glad to IE not represented :)

if u close ff all your tabs are gone. this is one feature i cant do without, keeping all your current web pages in opera is a great feature that has always been with opera. its nice to be able to start up opera and continue from where u where

And yet before you start, Opera is smaller, uses less memory, and is faster...how does that work?

how is opera faster?

i tried it was no faster than FF, firefox uses memory? opera is smaller by like 1 meg lol

Hmmm...try going back to pages. Opera is quick. According to benchmarks, it's also much nippier at running different types of code.

And yes, Firefox uses gobs of memory.

Well 1 meg is alot in terms of 5mb browsers, especially when then smaller one has tons of features comapred to about 0 in Firefox. :D :p

It is one of the fastest browser around just in terms of code and speed tests, even though that doesn't make much difference.

Nobody here mentioned mouse gestures
Opera was, is and will always be the best web browser on the world

Ja those are nice too, but I agree with you about Opera always being the best.

Okay so anything could happen, but the Opera team keep on developing the browser and adding new features with every minor release. Firefox is still very similar to version 1, even the new FF 3 beta still looks basically the same with no noteable new features. Spell checker was basically the feature set for FF 2.

The site works fine if you mask or identify as IE under Site Preferences.

So they just don't accept opera even though it works with the page?

Dead right. Right-click on the page, and choose "site preferences" to configure how Opera handles the site.

Also, if you find a page that doesn't load. Report it to Opera. They made fixes for me so I could access the Nedbank online banking site a while back.

Plenty of sites detect user agents just to make sure that there aren't any problems. It may be that the site still doesnt work at 100% you just dont notice it.
