Opera Max

The Vodacom N910-F.

Is that not the better one to have?
Its the best one. I have the same one. I am finding it odd that your battery is bad.

Are you using Vodacom's 5.0.1 Lollipop Firmware? I flashed the very latest POF2 FW, for Nordic Countries, and before that used German ROMs.

I only use stock ROMs. I'm on Vodacom's 5.0.1 which I downloaded OTA when it came out.

I've tried dropping the screen brightness now....

Update: dropping screen brightness to around 55% and changing my many notifications to wake the screen for less time / not at all has seen my battery performance improve greatly.

A pity to have to dim such a glorious screen. But once it's done, you really don't notice the difference.

That is fantastic, glad to hear it. :)

How do you manage to even use a screen at such high brightness? Mine is at 30%, I try take it up to 40% but it gets far too intense...I am using the AMOLED Cinema Screen Mode though.

I use Auto +5 when I'm outside, and 30% everywhere else.

For some reason I can't download and update apps with this turned on and have to switch off temporarily to do so. Anyone have that issue as well?

Interesting. Do you find the different screen modes make a difference?

I hadn't considered dropping below 50% brightness...

Dropping to around 55% has (as expected) doubled my battery life.

Still only getting 10 hours of heavy use, though. Will post some screenshots later. Down to 41% from full charge which finished this morning at 05h00.

Not for me.

I was finding it to be quite a big battery drain the other day, though. Think it's been a bit better lately.

As expected.

3h33min of screen on time. Down to 20% battery.
Geez! Its burning through battery!

Your Android System is quite high. Are you streaming a lot and playing games? That just doesn't look right.

Also, are you in an area of good signal? The phone is preset to search for 4G LTE, if there isn't any 4GB where you are, may as well drop to WDCMA/GSM (HSDPA/EDGE) as I have:

Not streaming or playing games. On WiFi the whole time.

I've activated power saving now, decreasing cpu power.

It is doing the trick. No noticeable loss in speed. Don't know what was wrong the last time I tried it.

Awesome stuff, glad to hear that :) let's see how it goes.

I have just jumped back to KitKat for the 3rd time, not due to battery life, but due to multitasking. I couldn't stand the more aggressive memory management, although it's not bad, and most wouldn't notice it, I do run a lot of stuff and really prefer how KitKat kept it all in memory instead of just 5-6 apps.

Yesterday, I was Googling solutions to the lag experienced when pressing the multitasking button for the first time. I can't say any of them have worked. Still up to 2/3 seconds of lag when I press it, after not having done so for a while.

I can't say I've seen the same issues on the Huawei devices which I've played with so far (G7 and Mate 7).

Today's results (with opera max VPN turned off) screen down to around 45%. Cinema mode enabled. Power saving (cpu only) enabled. Black backgrounds. Screen transitions all down to 0. On WiFi almost all day.
