...and so far it looks awesome! http://opera.mini.com

Quite an improvement over 4.2. The small font size is now perfect and mobile view looks better too. Check it out!

Just a quick question, does Opera Mini use BIS or does it bypass it.

Maybe RIM blocks it?

Anyone have definitive knowledge on this?

Awesome browsing experience though, but not sure if I would be willing to pay for browsing when it is free on native Blackberry browser

Yeah, I want to know this as well. Posted a similar question yesterday, but no one replied yet :(

I downloaded Opera mini 4.2 yesterday and at first it asked me to connect to the opera server and then it prompted me to connect to a "low-level network" or something along these lines.

Once again look at the Bold Tips and Tricks thread (first post) for info on how to get Opera Mini to use BIS only (change your TCP settings)
It's great but obviously has a ton of bugs, but defintely an evolution for Opera Mini

I did change the TCP settings but it still promts me to use the opera server and then connect to a low end network
