Opera is my go to browser for quick updates/info/time wasting.

Imagine my dissapointment when I loaded it up on the iPhone 4.
Its using the 3g/3gs resolution so it looks like a blurry mess.
It's SLOW
Scrolling around a page is jerky.

I've seen it running on a 3GS and a Desire, it absolutely sings there.

What gives?
Are Opera planning an update for this?

To be honest, I used to be an avid opera supported (switched browsers as my pc started freezing in opera randomly, that never fixed the problem though). Anyways, opera mini was the best browser on any phone as well, but personally, on the iPhone, it just does not cut it for me. I am much more impressed with safari. It is as if they tried to do a quick port to get something on the appstore, and shut the people who begged for opera on iPhone. They still need a lot of features on there to compete with safari, the only thing that makes it worthwile, is the fact that is (or should be) slightly faster, and use less bandwidth.

Its still the best low bandwidth browser out there.
For checking out things like forums or blogs, where reading lots of text is what you need, you cant beat the data savings.
On the 3gs it runs even better than the desire, very smooth scrolling and zooming, and as quick as the desire ito loading a page.
But on the iphone 4 its laggy, jerky and generally very poorly executed.
I'm sure it just needs a software update but damn! iOS4 has been out for a while so why is opera draggin it's feet?

I used Opera Mini on my 3GS for the sum total of 3min 14sec.

Do NOT want.

I use safari on wifi connections but often switch to opera for loading pages on cellular data because it uses less data. It works fine for me.

We don't have firefox mobile because apple don't allow other browsers. Opera mini gets away with it because it's not really a browser. A remote server renders the page as a compressed image first.

The only webpage I actually view from Safari is GMail.

Most of the time it is via Twitter or something that I open a link and have no control over viewing it from Safari or Opera. And switching between apps, copying and pasting urls is just too much trouble for the possible savings on bandwidth.

If something sounds/looks big, I email the link to myself and view it on desktop later.
