Hi

I downloaded Opera for the first time ... but for some reason I can't access websites. I added it to the whitelist for Windows Firewall and Disabled the Windows Firewall ... nothing ... I use Eset Nod 32 Anti-Virus but no other firewall.
Any ideas on how I can get it to browse a site.

Thanks

Itai

I to had that problem as i am also new to opera, but waht i did was enable everything to do with opera in my firewall.I use zonealarm so i really cant help you but if you are using vista check all your firewall settings. The firewall might be disabled but it does not mean its not working.Check again, its something simple,i bet

enable your firewall again and check.Better still check your incoming and outgoing packets/send and recieve thingies in the internet connection.

It might be a firewall issue ... but I enabled opera.exe ... anything I'm missing ... I'm using XP Pro SP2. The internet works fine ... on Maxthon, Firefox and IE ... but not Opera?

I can't tell cause my little wireless network connection thingy just says +- 80 bytes no matter how much I do or don't download ... but I don't think it is

really of,Like i said even if your firewall is off it still on,strange thing,Do a test.switch your firewall off and download nethostfs, any version and then activate nethostfs withthe firewall off and you will see a pop up appear. If it does not appear then your firewall is totally of.There are many things you can test to see if the firewall is off but this is the only one i could come up with

Weird problem, I have never had to add anything to my firewall for Opera, and I have always run NOD32 and Opera on XP with and without the firewall.

I've currently got Firefox and Maxthon ... I really like maxthon ... to bad it uses IE's engine ... my favourite things about Maxthon are:
1) When I minimise or close it, it goes to system tray so no accidental closures and saves space on taskbar.
2) If I click on a link and drag it ... it opens up in a new tab ... so no more right click and open if new tab or shift click ... saves time
3) Doesn't allow more than 1 instance open at a time.

There are a few other simple things ... if any other internet program like FF or Opera can do all that let me know.

Firefox can do Number 2... just hold Ctrl+click on the link

but it doesn't do 1 or 3 ... which is why I continue to use Maxthon.
I don't mind middle clicking, but I don't want to ctrl+click ... I want the effort to be as smoot and as little as possible.
I find it quicker to left click then middle quick, but I suppose I'm not used to it.
