OPNsense WAN Configuration with iPOE

Evening gents,

Anyone currently running an opnsense setup with wan successfully setup via ipoe?

According to ISP, Vumatel Core only works with ipoe protocol so can't request pppoe details.

Also had a look at opnsense site and can't find anything concrete.

Not sure if this will help, but their is an example in their wiki for Sky UK that uses IPoE:

I maybe incorrect, but I think it normally just needs the WAN port to be tagged with a specific VLAN ID and then have the WAN port set to DHCP instead of PPoE.

Yeah I did stumble upon that but a few things that is mentioned there that i don't have is a password for the identifier.

Also I don't run dhcp but now static (requested a static IP since I was on cgnat)

I'm thinking of just setting static and see if that works but I highly doubt it as there has to be some sort of idneitfication to authenticate the connection.

I'll give it a bash anyways and see.

You just need to set it to DHCP with no identifier and it will work, if you had another router on before you need to inform vumatel that you are changing routers since if memory serves they lock to the Mac address and will need to reset/release for you.

I've currently got the bog standard zyxel router running. I thought maybe it identifies on mac address. Will see if spoofing works if I get that far.

So just an update.

Looks like nothing special needs to be done except enter the ipv4 settings (this is for static assignments). I can only assume it's the same for dynamic with the exception of setting dhcp instead of static.
