Hi,

Anyone know where I can find a mini-toslink adapter for a macbook pro.
(capetown preferably)

I can't believe how impossible it is to find.
How does everyone function without 5.1 sound ?

The only place that I've found these cables is at Electrovision in Cresta. They had them made up and sell them under their own brand name.

I use them to connect my mac mini to a amp. It makes using front row a pleasure. The only issue I have is that you have to control volume using your amp as the mac will lock the output level using the optical out.
I suppose that this is what you want if you are linking to midi etc.

Google gives results for both adapter cables and adapter tips.

I have a very high-end audio system and use my Mac as the frontend, connected directly to my DAC. I personally do not like any adaptors...I'd suggest the Van Den Hul Optocoupler Mk II. It is a phenomenal optical digital cable, and it comes in a mini-Toslink to Toslink configuration (as well as mini to mini, and Toslink to Toslink).

You can order directly from AE Consultants, who are the importers/distributors. I am in JHB and purchased a number of times from them - they courier it up without a hassle.

Cheers,
