Optical to 5.1 RCA Converters WTB

Hi Guys

Looking for the converter to connect to a 5.1 system that only takes rca in. I'm assuming the optical route is the only option I have to get 5.1 audio into the system.

Checking the web now also but hoping you guys have a tried and tested working system.
 
What do you have to work with (what are you trying to achieve)? May help with giving suggestions.

Single RCA = Coax (5.1)

Red/White RCA = Stereo.

So converting optical to stereo RCA would be pointless.
 
wanna play whatever audio is on my TV to a separate 5.1 system. the 5.1 only has 6 RCA inputs. no HDMI, no optical in. So I'll be watching HDTV, stereo movies or Blu ray movies.

So you basically need to split the digital signal from your TV to 6 separate analog channels?

What System? if its 5.1 it must have a coax input? at least... It looks like an RCA connector, but is only one cable for digital audio. Pic or model?
 
Yes, looks like you'll need something like what I posted above. Depends on what outputs you have to work with. It's not so easy to just convert the digital signal to analog, depending on the format the device needs to be licensed to decode it (like DTS).
 
I'm gonna pop by hdcabling in centurion to see what they have. Lines busy but I think they'll have something. I'll try esquire and communica as well. Thanks gents.
 
Your amp is AC3 compatible so as long as you can get your DTS in AC3, split into individual channels, you should be good to go. That converter that DrJ posted the link to looks like what you need.
 
Esquire and communica don't stock. Buddy might get for me from uk I think.
 
Why don't you get a cheap second receiver with 5.1 line outs? This way you can plug all your sources into it and easily switch between them. Saw some rotel surround processors going for <R1k some time ago as well.
 
Sounds like an idea ponder. Any idea where you saw that low price?
