optimising my adsl, tcp optimiser, torrent tweaks and so forth please help

Hi to all again.

I now have my uncappped 384k (Telkom dsl) (Nexus ISP) adsl up and running.
Again thanx to all for your help.

I have been searching for ways to tweak my adsl to get the most out of it
even though its 384 k speed and I found a little application called tcp optimiser
now im not 100% sure how to change setting on the app

now the top section has a connection speed "tweaker I guess"
that ranges from 1Mbps to 100+Mbps mine is on default at 3.5Mbps
im curious on weather I should change it to a higer setting ?
what will the effect of it be Who knows (it'll start snowing int pta if I make it higher)

So my questions are
1. Can I Change it safely and how high can I set it ?
2. What are the other settings I can change to tweak my adsl mtu/ttl/ and so forth (it has a option to tweak LAN Request Buffer Size and to tweak gaming tcp nodelay,frequency,ticks) im confused
3. Im going to use the line for gaming (PS3) mainly GT5 and some GTA:TBOGT id like to know how to keep my latency as low as possible I understand its only a 384k line
4. I will be using torrents (not while gaming will pause torrents if its needed) What tweaks can be done to make downloads a little faster ?
5. And lastly Id like my line to be "fast" but stable too, There are router tweaks one can use too

I'm going to be totally honest with you, using that type of software is going to make hardly any difference(probably nothing) at all.

Speed wise, it won't help at all. As for latency, some TCP optimisers do work but depending on what game you play the effect can be huge to very small depending on if you play international or local.

I see, Ill be playing internationally mostly unless I can connect to local servers/hosts for GTA: TBOGT or GT5 (when it is released in 2040)

yeah i was thinking the same. logically i guess messing with frame size of packets would either increase or decrease overhead, ultimately effecting latency. but imo it's more trouble than it's worth, what works for one application may well negatively affect an other. as for a torrent optimizer, thats total poppycock in my eyes. all you need to really worry about is that your client is set up correctly. one should be wary of programs like that. chances are it's a generic Trojan-downloader.
