Could somebody please post their settings for the planet ADE 3000, to get bittorrent to work (currently it's giving me speeds of 0-2kbs when there's more than 30 seeders!) It uses ports 6881-6999

thanks

My BitTorrent only uses ports 6881 to 6889. Just foward it to your computer on the TCP protocol. UDP isn't needed.

Maybe this has been explained and sorry for asking again, but how do I forward these ports to my computer on the TCP protocol?

I am using Telkom's ADSL router Pots.

Thanks

I use the Planet ADE-4100 router and I had to do no port-forwarding to get bittorrent to work.
Maybe you were leeching from an international seeder after your 3gig cap?

hi, i know its bit late but here goes. I would advice anyone using bit torrent to change their default ports of 6881-6889 to something higher like 50000-50100 for example. Afaik telkom monitors those default ports lately and throttles it to s*it ;p plus most torrent sites dont allow the default ports allready.

er no it isn't, the whole thing is written in java which means as soon as it parses a file it eats up system resources big time, this isn't an issue until your torrents get bigger than 2 gb but after that be prepared to leave your machine alone for a while.

Garbage collection shouldn't be an issue, it's more likely the JVM is just much slower than running a native binary so on larger files your processor chokes.
