A few issues here:
  1. Any particular reason why you need a firmware upgrade to your Option Data Card?
  2. What is the current firmware version? - might give a clue as to which version might be worthwhile downloading from vodacom.co.za
  3. Was this particular Option Data Card obtained outside of SA? - if it was not released in SA then that would explain why there is no specific firmware listed for it on vodacom.co.za
PS: Welcome to MyBroadband :).

The card firmware has never been upgraded. We got the card last year July, my boss took it over to Oz last month and could only connect to the VPN fro 3 min at a time. He was told that one of his collegues had the same issue and was told bu Vodacom to upgrade the card firmware, which worked form him, so I have been charged with this.

It also looks to me like the Option Globetrotter, but Option suggesta that if I have a SP card, such as Vodafone, I should get the firmware from them, I am hesitant to go the straight option route.

Thanx

While you could take a chance, I suggest that you rather take it to say Vodaworld if you are anywhere near there, and have a data specialist type of person upgrade the firmware for you.

I took it to them, but for some reason they want the CD that came with the card, I have not found it yet, the boss is out of town. I was just hoping I could do this myself, without getting them involved.

Where did the card come from? I see all the cards we supply in SA have got firmware on vodacom.co.za.

What is the current version of the firmware? I can maybe try and find the correct firmware for you.

If you run the VMC and go to dianostics, you should see all the details. Post that.

This is the Nozomi card as per the 'NL'. (Should be in faq, will check).

You can get 3.17 from: http://www.vodacom.co.za/services/mobile_data/downloads.jsp
When Vexander posted that, I was left wondering if the Option data card was vanilla-3G or HSDPA, but impossible for us to know without the serial number to check against the FAQ which is what I suggested that Vexander do quite a while back in post #2 in this thread.

@v3g, just curious, were you able to tell that it was the Option Nozomi [HSDPA] data card based on the IMEI or other number in Vexander's post?

Two things:

- The NL is the newer version of the Nozomi.
- The firmware on the card is 3.15. If you look at the list of cards on vodacom.co.za, the Nozomi is the only one that has a firmware that logically follows on this, 3.17. All the other versions are completely different.
