Option Nozomi card?

Hi Guys,

If the data prices change per connection type in the future - eg: GPRS is cheaper than 3G - then will you be able to select your connection type on the Option Nozomi card?

AFAIK the option nozomi card is capable of GPRS, EDGE, 3G and HSDPA so yes, you can select whatever connection you want.

As Edge is considered as an enhancement to GPRS and HSDPA an enhancement to 3G, the card only diffentiates between GPRS and 3G as the old cards did. To the best of my knowledge, you cannot specify between GPRS and EDGE or 3G and HSDPA in the settings.

3G/HSDPA is far more efficient than GPRS/EDGE so if there ever was to be a price difference, 3G should be cheaper per MB, not more expensive.

3G/HSDPA required the building of a complete new network where GPRS/EDGE are carried on a network which has been built over the last 10 years. Maybe that would justify the opposite - ie 3G more expensive than GPRS?

The efficiency you refer to, I believe, is a spectral one, i.e. on the radio link.

Keep in mind that a major contributor to data cost is international bandwidth. Also, local core network components will carry more data and thus require higher capacity. And we know where those come from...
