Headed by Alan Freidland, whose main business is Brilliant Panel Beaters in Johannesburg, Optis caused a stir in the initial bidding round when it was found to have copied another company's presentation and that the proposed CEO, Freidland's son, was too young at the time to sign contracts.

ICASA councillor Tracy Cohen says the regulator is determined to go ahead with the licensing of the SNO.

“We will proceed unless there is a legal reason not to,” she says.

Anyone know anything more about this Brilliant Panel Beaters?
Seems rather an odd entity to have a stake in a Telecommunications Company.
And the CEO is too young to sign?

Jokes aside - what could the possible motivation for this be? Do they have a massively good idea that they just *must* be in the SNO? Or is it purely money? Or is it a plot by a certain fixed line operator to stall their competition even longer?

At the current rate, not even my grandchildren will see the SNO, and I don't even have kids yet.
 
If you go to his panelbeater shop you will probably find lots of telkom vehicles.

You scratch my back and I'll f@ck-up the SNO.

Maybe they heard about the "super-fast" ADSL telkom offers and thought it was a modification that they could use on cars. Hell if it speeds up the internet it has to speed up a car right?
