I would like to know who recently took this exam? and How has it changed since Oracle took over. I cannot seem to find any practice tests online... I can only find previous versions.

I'd be interested in knowing this as well..

I'm planning to do the certification exam before the end of the year.

From what I've seen online nothing has changed, there's an updated book for the Oracle version, but as far as I can see not much, if anything, has changed in it.

Well I can speak from taking the Java Programmer I exam this past week, it is not a walk in the park,
I would recommend you study the Java Language Specification, also knowing it off by heart, so you can rewrite it word for word.
Unless your a real genius which I highly doubt you are I wouldn't evn try to get the certification.

Passing score is 75% and there are 90 questions in total which are multiple choice questions.

That doesn't sound entirely accurate..

Passing score is only 61% according to the certification website.

A friend of mine did it, and while it was tricky he passed first time.

I've been through the material more than once now, there's a lot you have to know, and a lot that you'd never encounter in real life programming.. So you really do have to know all the minute details of the Java language. That said it should be doable provided you have a few years experience and study enough :)

With no real work java experience (I only did Java at school). I have passed the OCP Java SE 6 programmer with 90% two weeks ago. The material that has helped me was the MGH SCJP study, and the OCP practice exam book. If you read those, you will be good to go. And Also check the javaranch forum from time to time, they have got very helpful stuff.

What is the point in doing a Java SE certification?

Shouldn't you be doing Java EE certification?

You have to own a Professional SE Certification in order to do any EE Certification

Thanks Salazzar, I have amassed lots of study material now and been going through it for a couple of weeks now.
