Oracle Corp.'s profit fell 10.5 percent in the latest quarter as the business software maker absorbed Sun Microsystems and its heavy expenses for building and supporting computer servers.

Oracle profits down

Maybeeeee, because they bought Siebel ?

Wasn't Siebel bought a few years back ?? They made a couple of acquisitions over the past year, mainly Sun Microsystems. This usually leads to expenditure, redundancy (which they must get rid off) and increased operating costs. They will turn the profits around soon and I think they have made some very good acquisitions to place themselves strongly in the market. Since now own Sun as well, they can sell a complete solution (DB + OS + App server + Peoplesoft) to a company making them a big draw card for companies looking for bulk priced discounts for support and systems. Even HR can get involved over things like peoplesoft. I think they even own Agile so makes people think if they go Agile, why not go oracle all the way around ?
