So here's the question: do I get HL2:Ep2 for PC or Xbox? Really tough call... FPS is generally better on PC, IMO. But will Team Fortress be free to play online on PC or will it be subscription based?

Get it For PC, Why?
Server's will be loacal on PC + more players online* w/ PC than Console and there will be No subscription to play online with PC. :)

Cant wait till septermber!

Console has 16 Max, PC has 36 Max

Buy all your multiplayer FPS games for the PC.

It's just such a mission to play local games online via Xbox Live. All the people ever play is Gears of War. No one ever wants to play anything else :(

Multiplayer FPS games are made for the PC.

lol... So wrong... the SA community is mostly GoW based but you can find folks who do GRAW 2 or R6 online quite a lot amongts a whole bunch of other non-FPS games. At least I wont have to worry about hackers, patches, SGS servers being down, STEAM, etc.

Its your own choice but playing HL2 or TF2 on a 32" LCD is way more exciting than on a 19" LCD. ;)

Are there no local servers for Xbox360? Can one create servers for 360 games?

All 360 games are currently peer networking based - ie you connect directly to your friends instead of a server. The downside is that most games have less than 32 players at a time, but the upshots are

a. The games are local and low latency (PSN servers are all in Europe)
b. If there's players there's always a server.
c. Finding Friends and games through Live is an absolute breeze. I maxed out my friends list (100 peeps) in about 2 weeks with just locals.
d. you don't have a situation, like EA is about to do, Where old games get disconnected after 2 years.

You're kidding, right?

It's MUCH easier to find someone to play with on a PC than it is on a 360.

Let's just take the SA DotA community as an example. I can go now, in the middle of the day, host a game and I'll get a full game.

Try that with even something as popular as GoW on a 360 and I can almost promise you, you won't get a full game.

It's not my fault you don't have any friends or are hanging around with the wrong crowd, those DotA players are a shifty bunch! ;)

(joke! :p)

That's not a fair comparison, DotA is as popular as Gears. Now go try find a game of Starsiege tribes or something else obscure on a local server and see what you get.

IMO PC will still look better than a console :)

Starsiege tribes? You are actually comparing a 9 year old game with Gears of War? No, screw that! I compared the most popular Xbox 360 game with one of the most popular local PC games. Don't let me even start throwing in Counterstrike into this argument. You know you'll lose then.

Hmmm, are the PC players gonna be able to play the console players online?

That would be cool...... I could use the target practice. :p

@ Glordit - Sure, any $15k PC will look better than a $299 console. ;)

@ Toxin - Currently the only crossover game for both PC & X360 platforms to slug it out is Shadowrun. Which is quite enjoyable since its only MP based, kinda like CS without the ridiculous bunny hopers and magnun/shotty spammer. :D

I love how the console fanboys knock the PC for cheaters and hackers, when Halo 2 also has just as many cheaters and hackers. Heck, even Gears has exploits which cheaters take full advantage of.
