Orange Store - How are they so relatively cheap?

My wife recently got a Note 4, lovely phone. Took a look on the Orange Store ZA, and same phone is almost R1500 cheaper than buying at a cell provider. How is it their prices are so much cheaper?

Handsets are cheaper in the uk. Local networks are greedy

Because they relatively buy the handsets at international prices, relatively ship them to SA, relatively pay all taxes and other costs and that still doesn't add up to the same amount caused by the greed of local networks/shops.

Their products are genuine. Their support, not so much.

It depends. I bought the HTC One from them. Warranty is carried through HTC SA for the full two years.

Um yes. Do you even know what that means? All grey imports means is that they aren't brought I to the country via official distributors.

That's my main worry, if something on the phone goes south...last thing I want is...erm no, you bought through Orange, we cant hep you.

While a fair chunk of people have had bad experiences, I'm quite sure a fair chunk have had good experiences. Loads of people I know have bought from them countless time without any hassle. My experience wasn't so great. But I'd use them again.

Also, I'm quite sure that more people are inclined to rage on social media when things go pear, than thank the company publicly. I myself don't usually use HelloPeter as an outlet to thank companies, so I wouldn't base my choice on that alone.

Is the phones you buy from Orange compatible with a contract in SA. I dropped my contract phone, now the screen is cracked. Can I replace it with a phone I buy from Orange? Thanks.
