hi all

i ordered my closer plan 4 last night and thought to check up on my order and went to http://www.telkom.co.za/portal/page to check my order number and it came up with this instead

Your ADSL Service request resulted in UNKNOWN_DN_ON.
One of the Operational Support Systems threw exception : The directory number specified does not match the order number.
Please consult the helpdesk at 0800 375 375 for further information

perhaps my order has not been put through yet?
i dunno
also when i applied i asked for the usb modem but dunno what modem that is i mean they make or model ect

relax... check tomz and c.. it takes awhile for the status to be updated.
It would be better jis to call dem up...

As for the modem... If i was u and many others on this forum will agree... u should hav opted for the 4port router with wifi instead, even has a usb interface....

See if u can change it

Yip I agree, don't get the USB modem, get a ROUTER :D 4 port preferably, you should have a network card or adapter ;)

You can still call them and tell them which router you want... i took the 4 port 100WR and I'm very happy with it.

BTW: My order only updated on the telkom portal webpage after my adsl was setup up and that was 3 days after I ordered it.

Thought I'd try it out on my order number, but all I get is a line saying "PPE is working". Are you sure that's the right url?

Same here.. Link is not working.. I searched the whole website looking for a way to track my order online as well and I can find anything..

Help anyone ??

I also had that problem. Said something about the SQL Server Temp table being full. Stupid Telkom. But I kept trying, then it worked eventually.

ya, just like try it every hour or whenever you free. Telkom site was going a bit slow, and a few Internal server errors, so maybe their site is just going through a slippery patch of snow at the moment

HA! I finally got through and the message I got was "Your ADSL Service Request has already been processed"

Bearing in mind that the actual phone line was installed on Monday and I ordered the ADSL self installation on Monday Afternoon via 10219 can this mean that I am good to go????

Could it be??

Any ideas?

wow thanks for all the replies.

Aparently.... If it says that your request has already been processed, then it is done.. But I dont believe it. Mine said that like 10 days ago. But only got the call from Cybersmart yesterday saying that Telkom has installed the line.

So yea... might have to wait a little while. It might mean that Telkom is on its way to fix it up for you

If i is true I they would have run the exchange jumpers in a record of two days!!

I phoned the 10219 people and they indicated that I should go through to the Telkom shop and collect a modem. I think that once I have the modem I will set it up and wait for the connection light!!

Ah man. 2 days. Imagine that. I hope, for you, it does. You hardly ever leave from a Telkom deal happy. Hopefully for you, you are gonna be smiling ear to ear

telkom is giving me a real run around the bush and i had a bad day to begin with.

i got home to be given a message that telkom phoned from cape town, why would they phone from cape town if iam in durban? asking if i'll be home on monday why should i be home on monday if i requested a self install. i phoned to night to be told that first my order didnt exsist and then to be told that it did and they cant help me now because the ppl that deal with it have gone home.
i phoned last night to change my order froma usb modem to the 4port router and i was told i couldnt do that as my order had been cancelled becuase of something or other that telkom need to do on there side then my order will be forwarded. so they gave me another tracking number ontop of my closer 4 plan number and now i have no idea what the hell is going on.

All you do is calmly walk into your nearest Telkom shop, tell the person at the counter you ordered self-install and you're there to pick up the WiFi modem, they'll ask for your phone number and confirm your name and then they'll go to the back and get you the modem.

Regarding the actual line that's much more of a headache. If you see a Telkom techie working somewhere near your exchange just stop and give him your order number (the latest one they gave you) and ask nicely and he'll probably just have your line activated same day (happened to me:D).

Otherwise keep a few grandpa pills at hand because Telkom's hold music is gonna drive you insane. :)

Dobroadband level 2 closer

I called telkom in May and signed up for the Dobroadband level 2 closer which was advertised on the telkom site for R618 or R628 cannot recall which now.(the price is now R648 on the same website...when and why it was changed who knows) At the end of May received my account and was billed for Telkom closer option 4 and 2GB account separately which when I calculated at the time was about R20 more expensive. Its not much but its the principal of the matter. I called them went online at the same time, checked the price of the package and explained that they did NOT give me what I asked for and asked them to rectify it. This was supposedly done.

I called telkom accounts today to find out how much my bill is as I wanted to pay it tomorrow only to be told its R1400 minus a credit I had on my account. What the hell!!!!!!!

I was then told I had the 384 broadband account with closer plan 2 (R145) which allows me to make after hours calls up to an hour each for nothing. This is even worse than the initial mistaken plan they had given me.

This is NOT what I asked them for. The service I asked for gave me 1000 peak minutes as well as the after hours calls and cellphone calls billed per second. So I told my kids not to use my cellphone to make quick calls to their friends and to call from my landline and also I called Joburg and other places (during the day) and which I would normally called from voip assuming I have 1000 minutes during peak time.

I called and logged a query and realised that the staff are not aware of the difference between DoBroadband Level 2 closer and Dobroadband Level 2 DSL.

The level 2 closer includes the closer plan 3 and the other does not include any closer plans, so the stupid consultant give me the dobroadband level 2 which is dsl 384 with 2GB and gives me plan 2 closer which just gives me the after hours calls and no peak time calls.

I am sick and tired of telkom. How can 2 different people make mistakes. Have they no training on their products?

So my advice to you is to make 100% sure that the consultant is giving you the service you asked for. If you have to ask her to tell you the cost of the product you asked for (even if you know how much it is) to check and double check.
