Hi guys,
I’ll be moving to a neighborhood at the end of August which has Openserve fibre available. Sadly they’re the only provider available at the moment. Frogfoot is also coming to the area, but it would probably only be next year at some point and I’m not going to wait that long to get internet access.
Currently I have ADSL at the town house where I live, but I'm not sure if I should cancel the ADSL line or ask Telkom to transfer it to the new address?
I feel that I should cancel it and just order a new fibre line via an ISP, preferably one that offers free installation. I think that if I move it to the new address, Telkom will in any case force me into a bundled deal that would most likely require a contract (which I don't want).
As far as ISPs go, the usual suspects Axxess, Webafrica and Afrihost I have seen has had their fair share of positives and negatives here on MyBB. I'm going the capped route, and thinking of Webafrica seeing that I can cancel the capped account which comes with a new line order (which Afrihost doesn't allow). I have a 400GB fatpipe account which will suffice for my monthly needs.
As for cancelling the ADSL, I see Telkom has a new online method of doing it via their customer portal. I suppose that is the "best" way of doing it and hope and pray that my cancellation goes through? Is there another way to do it quicker? I know some people have had a lot of trouble cancelling a line, here's hoping I don't run into the same
