Last few times I have ordered from Amazon they add a "customs fee deposit" which they use for customs fees. Delivery within the country is usually by courier so no issues with that...

If you order from Amazon.com, then you have to use a courier service and they will add the customs fees to the order price. If you order from Amazon.co.uk, they still have a SAPO service and the post office will assess and charge you customs duties when you pick up the parcel. Some post office branches are okay, some are bad. The theft issues seem to be branch related and not with the main mail centers.

Personally, I'd take the courier service option if you don't know the theft stats for your local SAPO branch. Newton Park branch in Port Elizabeth has been good to me so far, but that's just that specific branch that I trust.

My sister ordered some stuff (books) from Amazon Germany and it got held up for about 2 months at the SA Post Office before she was told to come fetch it. Don't recall what she had to pay on the spot though.

Hi Michellej,

I ordered a few covers for the edge + from cellularmall.co.za.
Good prices and excellent service.
