Has anyone ordered some pc hardware from amazon?

Im looking to buy a pc and Amazon is much cheaper than normal stores in SA (I did work in VAT and I only picked items with free international shipping!)

Only product not shipping to sa is a motherboard and ill get the antec modular 500 watt psu from evetech - thats the only cheaper thing in sa...

Obsidian 250d - 85 dollar(1411 Rand Inc VAT) SA Price - R1512
i5 6600K 252 dollar (R3722) SA Price - R4100+ and so it goes on for every product (ssd's, coolers, even RAM)

I dont care if i have to wait 3 months for our post service to deliver it.

Any other recommendations?

You will be posting here in 3 months time frustrated that you haven't got your items yet.
Don't place valuable items in the hands of the post office.
Get it properly shipped and tracked.

I saw the myus site.. are they good?

Then i can get some crazy specials at newegg too and get tracked dhl shipping?

I know there are more benefits of buying locally but components is a really over-expensive thing to buy compared to other products that you can buy locally..?

Amazon don't ship via SAPO, if they ship an item here it is to door to door only by courier

Ah Ok. Thought maybe there was a shipping option I hadn't seen before.

Not sure how OP thinks it's free shipping then?

The price difference isn't great. I would buy from Amazon but it would have to be at least 30% cheaper.
You need to consider 3 additional costs
- Customs. Think it is 14%.
- Delivery costs (Don't select the post office method, Amazon AFAIK dropped it due to refunds)
- Currency conversion Cost (which your banks charges)

Since most electronics gets imported to SA by distributors in bulk via China, in most cases you will end up paying the same if you use Amazon for PC components and add all the additional costs

Yet there are exceptions. Some non bulk, niche stuff and high spec components that aren't commonly sold here can be cheaper.
I'm planning to buy something like that probably from Amazon soon so can tell you how it goes.

Just put everything in your cart and go through the checkout steps. At like the last step before you actually confirm your order Amazon will give you a breakdown of all costs in rand including shipping, customs etc. It's actually pretty cool because then there's no hidden costs and you can compare apples to apples.
From time to time when buying a item I compare Amazon to local, with most things also sold in SA the price difference is minor, R50 - R100, then I rather go local for warranty and you get it quicker.
The only times I baught from Amazon in the past was items which I can't otherwise get in SA, items not imported or sold here at all.
