Ordering MacBook Pro from US Store and Import With Courier

My 2014 MBP is starting to show signs of dying, so - apparently - I need a new one. In my case I want a 14 inch MBP with 32GB Ram and (at least) a 1TB drive. Unfortunately the South African distributor does not import these - and although https://www.macnificent.co.za/ has them - the 40 to 50 working days is too long.

Has anyone gone down this route and could offer some feedback?

1.) You can select 1TB and 32GB of RAM and proceed to order. iStore aka Core have done custom builds for a while now.
2.) Alternatively order from Amazon / B&H Photo Video etc and you'll be fine.

The lead times on Macnificent MBP listings don't mean anything. Just check their site regularly and you'll find the model you want in stock before long most likely. Things could be worse atm due to particularly constrained supply worldwide, but generally speaking.

My 16" MBP (M1 Pro, 1TB storage, 32GB memory) was suddenly back in stock locally and able to ship immediately. I think Macnificent always has new custom builds coming in. Their customer support is excellent, so you can also try dropping them an email to get an estimate on when the unit you want will be available and whether they can reserve it for you.

iStore custom builds are more expensive than Macnificent from my experience and take disgracefully long to arrive. I'd sooner import stuff myself than go through the hoops iStore has put in place to order a custom build.

Fortunately, Macnificent is around and they're fantastic about preemptively sourcing custom builds.
