Organising with Facial Recognition?

So I've finally managed to transfer most of my photo's from various devices, storage and backups to a central point and will soon be sending it all to the cloud.

I thought it would be good to organize the photos beforehand but the task may drive me insane. I simply don't have it in me to go through 45k+ photos and sort them into nice folders using explorer.

Anyone have suggestions on decent photo management software that does reasonably accurate facial recognition? Preferably not something that is going to try and integrate with any social media, I'll sit and type names the first time and then let the software pick up the people in other photos. Paid or free doesn't matter.

Ideally I'd like to look at a folder structure based on year->month->location (if tagged) and then be able to filter based on tagged faces.

Why not Google photos? Does a good job on facial recognition and it's all private unless you decide to share specific photos

+1. You may have to help it along in the beginning with people who have similar faces, but with sufficient photos it will learn and organise your photos very well.

I did that exercise recently, copied all the photos from various devices into one folder on an external drive, installed Google sync and had it all synced to Google Photos. It organised itself very well. And now any new photos I take on my phone, I have it automatically uploaded as well when connected to wifi.

Yup Google Photos machine learning is brilliant...until it goes wrong.

They really just need a manual override to mark and identify someone manually.

It still can’t tell the difference between my first and second kid and every so often resets my son back to zero and starts over.

If I could simply select the photos and point to his name I could solve it myseld. Instead I now go to his sister's album to mark photos as wrong and then they disappear into the ether.

Still outside of Apple Photos there is no better.

It's also free if you are happy with her high resolution freebie mode. Otherwise you need to pay hit it's also not unreasonable.

Also screw folders. Google Photos gives you full search recognition. You'll never need folders again. Simple enter the date or location or subject and it will find it.

Lightroom does fine for me. Obviously, you'd first have to identify whose who, but after that it does quite well.
