Origin Download Speed Problems Lately?

Hey guys,

Has anyone else been experiencing download speed issues with EA's Origin platform lately? I am on a 8mb line which normally hits around 600-700kb/s when updating Origin but lately sits at about 180kb/s. Steam on the other hand maxes my line out at 970kbs constantly when downloading updates.

I know this is more of a technical issue but I thought I would check with other RSA gamers and see if you have noticed a difference before raising the issue with MWEB direcly.

Thanks in advance!

Players from countries all over the world have always complained about slow download speeds on Origin when popular titles released. Did anything big release recently? I recall americans complained about 50kb/s downloads when BF4 came around.

No problems my side, also 8MB line and get close to 900kb/s

I know FIFA 17 just got launched, so that might be hammering the servers, but i am still getting good speeds.

I have a 40mbps VDSL line, and Origin never gives me more than 1MB/s. Speed tests are perfect, and I am on Vox Telecom (fatpipe).

Has anyone gotten more than 1MB/s in the last 2 years from Origin?

Pulling off their site, 4MB/s for the installer. Haven't played an EA game in a long time, but can check BF3 in a minute.
The thin set-up is maxing at 50Mbps about, average 25Mbps. This was only for the minute it took to finish though.

On a side note, their notification icon for incorrect password looks crap.

Still increasing.

Stabilizing at 7.2MB/s.
Yeah, been about 2 minutes now, hovers between 6.9MB/s and 7.4MB/s.
It's 08h30, so this is peak. Steam is generally faster though, that hits 12MB/s for me.

Final screenshot at 1GB:

Overall average at about 6.6MB/s

Thanks. I get the same 1MB/s when I use Axcess... yet everything else is fine and usually gives me my full line speed. I tried EA support on this subject in the past... it was so bad - I don't think their 'network specialist' has ever seen international latency of 190ms... they just closed the ticket on me when they saw that...and i told them thats normal! It's also as if concurrency is an unheard of concept to them.

I will try Vox Telecom support again... Last time I tried to get help they suggested it to be a Seacom issue, but if you guys are getting your full speed, it does not sound like a Seacom issue.

I tested via Afrihost - I get my full line speed... so its definately a Vox issue. Will see what happens...

Wow, their support is just soooo BAD! Twice this week they closed my ticket saying that I should contact my line provider about speed issues - its like they cannot read the information I supplied about getting full speed on speed tests and Afrihost working... There is just one guy there that seems to know whats going on, yet frustratingly, they cannot just test this themselves.

Vox support is still going in circles - not reading what I am saying, stuck in the same loop. I just cannot believe how hard it is for them to read or listen! Every second person that talks to me does NOT read previous emails with data, they either assume the entire line's speed is dropping or they ask me to do the same tests over and over.

I am only bothering with them because I got their data package on a special and have lots of carry over data.
