So I know we can now run Windows on a Mac using Parallels.

My question is: Is the opposite possible? i.e. Running OS X on a PC?

If so how? If not why? Why? Why?

Virtualised? It's possible but Apple wont license it.

Mostly money. Apple wants to make sure you use only their hardware, their software and their stuff. But I guess their biggest reason is that without a large variety of hardware like in the PC world... they only have to make X amount of drivers. Drivers that they can make very very stable and works well with their system so the system is stable.

However since you can only use mac hardware, you are limited in certain ways.

Apparently if you can buy similar PC hardware you can install OSX on a "normal" PC without too much problems, there are guides on the net....

And how is the performance of these virtual systems?
on a mac? Pretty damn good for most things. For games etc I'd boot into the os (also an option on macs) instead of running it virtualised. If you boot into the os it is 100% native.

OsX is only designed to run on Apple hardware - you can probably get it running on other systems but its not going to be a bit of a kludge.

Guys, the Apple Hardware is so well built that it's really worth buying an Apple computer. I can certainly attest to the quality of the Mac Pro and many on the forum will boast how good their Mac Book (Pro)s are.
The iMac may be a bit of a bummer (PC with built in display) but hey
if it works who cares what it looks like, right?

You insinuating my Macbook is grubby?? :)

Haha, I wish. Mac Book (Pro)'s are really stylish and high quality pieces
of kit. The only thing which rivals them at present are Panasonic ToughBooks.
To be fair the MacBook and MacBook Pro's are in two completely different classes, each doing the job it was designed for admirably.

Granted, I will give you guys this one - I use the MacBook for home use so a Pro would have been a bit over the top but I wouldn't have minded one ;)
