Right. So I want to upgrade my laptop and after wasting time trying to do this with bootable USBs, DVDs etc I've decided just to stick with the digital downloads via the app store. I have one or two potentially silly questions though before I go forward.

1. I would like to use a different card to pay for this than the one that is currently registered to my Itunes account - is this possible?
2. If the above is not possible (I don't seem to see an option to add a second card on my account and I don't want to change the card entirely), is it easier do you suppose, to purchase a gift card on the 2nd card and use that for the App Store?
3. How large should I expect these files to be (I will need to download snow leopard and then lion)... 4-5ish gb?

I realise these are not particularly technical questions, but help would be appreciated none the less!

Thanks!

Edit: 4. I assume I have to download this directly to the laptop that will be upgraded? I cant dl it at work and then copy the files and run them at home?

3. Just over 4 GB IIRC (EDIT) for Lion, but Snow Leopard isn't downloadable AFAIK.

4. I would suggest you either format your USB stick to HFS+ or zip up the Lion Installer before you move it onto there. Otherwise, no reason this shouldn't work, the Lion installer is a perfectly normal app bundle. Keep in mind that the installer deletes itself when it's done, so copy it back to your HD when you get home and run it from the HD, not from the stick. This does assume that you have a Mac with the latest Snow Leopard and a valid iTunes account at work, of course.

Sorry, can't help you with 1 and 2.

On your 2nd point why not rather buy vouchers and use that to download lion just keep a backup of the installer before you do the install

What happened when upgrading with a bootable disk, if I may ask?
