Oscar Pistorius - Paralympics Unfair?

I believe Oscar Pistorius is also competing in the Paralympics.

Now, i recall him having to go to great lengths to compete with the able bodied athletes, and he was allowed to and he did compete.

Do you think its fair he gets to compete for a second time at the Paralympics?
 
of course it's fair ..... he is still disabled after all. All he wanted with the 'normal' Olympics was chance to prove himself against able bodied athletes.
 
I was thinking on the same lines as you guys that, after all he is disabled first and foremost, and thus should be able to compete again.

But it also got me thinking, what if he won a medal at the able bodied games. As a disabled guy going up against him in the paralympics i might be a bit pissed off that this guy is probably gonna grab another medal.

And I also thought, why does he get two chances at a medal and others do not?
 
because he went through the effort of fighting for a place and all the extra training to make sure he qualified, etc, etc.

Just remember that the athletes compete in different "classes". Eg a class 3 will be someone that onlly has 1 leg and no arms.

Also he did not compete at the olympics yet ;)

He did compete at the olympics, he didnt qualify for the final race.

He didn't make the qualifying standard for the Olympics, so he didn't get two chances.

Natalie du Toit has competed at the Paralympics before (not sure about this year), and competed at the Olympics this year. As long as they qualify, what's the problem?
 
/me boycotted them ...... last I heard he was being allowed .... my bad ;)
 
Oh so now he doesn't have legs again??!?!

Sorry to any of his fans but I cant stand this oke, he isn't an inspiration he is an annoyance.

IMO he knew full well that he would not qualify but made a stink in an effort to promote his brand - see how many ads he's all of a sudden.

His whole spiel hangs off of promoting pity and that's not brave - its whiny... which brings me to my point: the main reason that I cant bear him is that he is a master of the art of South African Whining.

Just yesterday I saw a headline: "Pistorius SLAMS Olympic bosses", last I checked it was only politicians with waning spotlights that popped up again to 'SLAM' things... I guess with the Olympics over he was in danger of being forgotten... pathetic.

So, in summation: I don't believe that he is an inspiration, I believe he is a money grubbing bore.
 
Oh please, he had reason to slam the Olympic bosses ... and parliament agree with him. It's disgusting the way the Paralympian team was treated so whats wrong with Oscar making a fuss about it? As for him being whiny ..... *shakes head* ... whats wrong with someone wanting to prove their mettle against able bodied sportsman? He's an athlete who wants to do his best. Sheesh :rolleyes:
