Oscar Pistorius is racing tonight at the Norwich Union British Grand Prix in Sheffield. He is racing against a full field of people who don't have any disabilities including American Jeremy Wariner who has run a sub 44 second 400m before and won the 400m in the Athens Olympics. The IAAF will be looking at the event to see if he will be allowed to race in future events. If he is allowed, it is likely that he would be a member of the SA 4x400m team in the world championships this year. He is presently the fastest man with no legs.

The event is presently on DSTV although the schedule indicated that they were going to stop coverage at 8pm. If it is still on then the race will be on at about 21:49.

His time was 2 seconds off his best and he was disqualified for running outside of his lane. The rain effects him far worse then anyone of the able bodied runners because the blades that he runs with have very little surface area that makes contact with the ground. The interesting thing is that he was only about 2 paces behind the second last guy.

Had to bloody rain

Maybe the rain might 'ave been a blessing in disguise.

I dont like his chances of getting accepted in abled bodied races. Will open up a big can of worms, now, and in years to come.

Anyway, i wish him the best. 'Disabled' athelets need someone like Pretorious to push the boundries.

I don't think that Pistorius should be running with able bodied athletes.

Look at the guys that he is running against. They look like athletes, they look muscular and honed. World class athletes don't look like some guy on the street, and sorry to say it, but Pistorius does. I really don't believe that if he was able-bodied that he would be able to compete with those guys. I really do think that the blades are giving him an advantage, and allowing him to compete at a level beyond where he would be competing without them.

I used to run competitively, and I was involved in the marketing of athletics for a number of years. I have spent a lot of time competing, and watching athletics. (Just so you know that I know a little about what I'm talking about. I have thought about this a lot - and that is my opinion).

boodles the problem is that he is just to fast for disabled ppl thus cannot compete because he always wins everything
