Hmm, I have always been interested in "space", solar systems, stars blah blah blah.

I came across the little gem called OSXplanet on Apple's website. Very funky, with some interesting info (shows cloud formations, storms and their paths, earhtquakes, etc)

Little bit of useless info for tonight: I count over 20 earthquakes reading 4.5 or higher on the Richter scale!
 
If you want a shocker, just filter for quakes less than M1.0 and see what you get. Guess you didn't know there was quite so much going on.
 
Yeah, but anything under 4 is VERY common.

Another thing ... I saw the cyclone approaching Mozambique last night ... estimated it to be about 300km out ... this morning I hear it is now at 200km ... getting extremely close!
 
Ditto, depending how close and sensitive you are most people can feel > about M1.5 and there is a handful of >M4.0 quakes in Joburg each year, most of them mining induced.

Have you looked at the starry night widget? Its pretty good for casual observing.

Starry night? Nope, But I sure will! :D

Also the Richter scale is logarithmic 9 quakes are thousands of times more powerfull than < 4 ones.
 
Starry Night Enthusiast or Pro for those who love astronomy. Not sure if Mac is supported, but it shows you 22.000+ stars and each one has a name :)
