I've been experiencing terrible hangups with my router recently. It seems to be connected but I can't access the router setup page in my browser until i unplug it and plug it in again. Could it be an iBurst thing or a router thing. Also what could cause a router just to freeze?

It's a Belkin Wireless G+

ye I've had that last week... could it be DoS attacks? no idea... but what those guys are saying is so true... my router (Belkin Mimo) went offline for a day and then after resetting everything it worked! Stupid DoS attacks that's eaten up my log space :(

Thanks for the info. I took it back to Incredible Corruption so they can sort it out. It's still newish.

Netgear class N wireless router outperforms Linksys, D-Link, and Belkin and is easy to use.
Oh, and since the competitive charts are sourced from NetGear it must be true, right?

Test report prepared under contract from NETGEAR
I'm quite happy with my Linksys, thanks. The WRT is very configurable - to the point of replacing the firmware with something more powerful! ;)

[EDIT]
Having read the report, the only real difference comes in after some 50ft - which in my case would place me in my neighbour's garden at almost all points of the compass. I don't want them to have access, so that's cool.

It works...

I base my opinion on the fact that I have installed three of these Gigabit editions and all work flawlessly as advertised.

If it works for you, that’s cool but when you do have the opportunity test the Netgear equipment then you might not roll your eyes.

As you should. As have I. Not 3 netGears, you understand. :D

Just pulling your socks. NetGear is a good brand, and worth putting your money into, if you have it.

On the plus side, I see NetGear have also released an Open Source 54G router. http://www.netgear.co.uk/opensource_wirelessrouter.php

Bowing to competition, perhaps? ;)

We've received a replacement router frm the shop. Not long after we got it back did I start experiencing the same issues. I've narrowed the issue down to one pc on the network. When it gets rebooted the router hangs up. I've replaced the lan cable on it. No luck. I'm now using a different network card but it still makes everything hang up.

Does anyone have any ideas what could cause this? It's the only pc on the network that uses XP64 but I think the problem started before we upgraded to that.

you tried taking it off the network? try the wireless route

Yes it's on a wireless card now. Doing the same thing. I've resorted to disabling the network connection before rebooting and that "seems" to help, but it's hardly ideal :/

If your router is uPnP enabled, some software on the rogue PC could be passing illegal instructions to the router causing it to malfunction. Try disabling uPnP in router GUI and see if it makes a difference.

Hey, its a long shot, but you never know...

It doesn't work as advertised...

Hi the JHBG

I suggest you take it back to IC, tell them it does not work as it should insist on a refund or an exchange on a Netgear product, save yourself the hassle.
