Oudekraal\12 Apostles fire

I see a moerse load of water quite close to that fire. Not sure what the issue is. Shouldnt be to hard to transport salt water a couple of hundred meters?

Salt usually doesn't go so lekka with pumps, iirc pumps on fire fighting boats are coated in bronze for this reason. Helicopters also don't like salt. Its also not very lekka for the plant life afterwards. In fact, salt will cause greater harm over the long term

Actually, the good folk of Bakoven are probably a little more alarmed than the folk of Camps Bay right now...

Doesn't look too bad..... yet.
It looks terrible and the wind is howling. It's on the 12 apostles.
view from my house right now

Arson season starting early this year? Can't afford to pussyfoot around these ****s any more and waste water. Time to plant snipers and shoot anyone seen setting a fire on sight.

OP: Please change title to 12 Apostles (Edit: Oudekraal) fire on Table Mountain.

Wind is gusty, and blowing from the West, which is unusual for the summer season. Fire is being pushed up the slope.

There is light ash falling in Kenilworth, on the eastern side of Table Mountain. Edit: Smoke plume is halfway to Somerset West already.

Edit: Plenty of photos posted on this forum: https://twitter.com/vwsfires

Disagree on all points! Helicopters can drop salt water, they just have to be washed afterwards. BTW, there are no helicopters on standby, since its not the fire season yet.

You disagree but state helicopters need to be washed after coming in contact with salt water? :erm:
