I think we are being overcharged quite a bit from the CoJ,

I don't know what the rates are but what would you say is the correct amount for the KilloWatts:

Month 6: skipped because the smart meter was put in this month
Month 7: 2036KWh
Month 8: 1943KWh
Month 9: 1691KWh

Why don't you get a prepaid meter?

From my Impact Meters account :

998.00KWh = R1,508.46

What type of appliances do you have?

Normal geyser and how many?
Poolpump?
What type of oven use?

Do you have a maid for 5 days etc.

I know people that have your type of usage (a bit more) for a household of 4.

Those sound like estimates Rickster. Every few months CoJ should balance your account.

What type of appliances do you have?

Normal geyser and how many? Just 1x 200L
Poolpump? Yes, from 14:00 to 00:00 and 06: to 10:00
What type of oven use? Normal electric oven?

Do you have a maid for 5 days etc. Yes, plus she has a 2 plate stove and tv in her room

1x deep freezer, 2x fridge freezer combo

I know people that have your type of usage (a bit more) for a household of 4.

.

That is not totally abnormal for a 3/4 bedroom household through winter. It is impossible to say whether it is reasonable or not without knowing the circumstances.

Hmm, probably the maid then. They sometimes use a lot of hot water for cleaning when it really isn't necessary to use that much.

And I meant oven usage sorry. That can also up your bill considerably.

You can also turn your pool pump a bit down. 2-4 hours a day should be fine depending on its size.

We had an estimated reading this month. I can't imagine why, as we also have the smart bloody meter.
But the estimate was over 1,600kWh also - 2 people. no pool, no maid, gas stove.
I sometimes suspect CofJ do this when their coffers need a quick boost.
But yes, they will reverse it when they get an "actual" reading.
What's up with that? Their smart meters broken already?
