Johannesburg - A two-year-old boy whose genitals were badly mutilated was left to suffer for about an hour at Kagiso Police Station on the West Rand without medical attention, the SABC reported on Friday.

Police said they could not transport him to hospital because of service policy and a member of the public took him there instead.

"When we got to the police station we explained what happened. The child was in pain and I asked them to call an ambulance as he was bleeding between his legs," said community leader Lydia Hlahane.

Kagiso Police Station spokesperson Bongani Sibiya said: "According to our instructions we cannot transport (the) injured with our vehicles."

The boy was in shock, but in a stable condition. Medical experts said it was a miracle he survived.

Kagiso police had opened a case of attempted murder and The Independent Complaints Directorate would investigate the conduct at the police station.

Provincial police spokesperson Lungelo Dlamini, said: "We are going to investigate why they didn't take the boy to the hospital (and) why they didn't use their discretion looking at the circumstances..."

After a long search the mother of the little boy, Meisi Majola, 26, was found by police. She had earlier reported that he went missing from 14:00 on Thursday.

She said her son had disappeared from their home in Roodeport on the West Rand.

They disgust me, calling the police here pigs is actually being kind.
 
Whilst I understand your disgust and frustration, I think it's fair to acknowledge that the police cannot be all things to all people. Sure, they probably could have done more, but these people are working under serious resource constraints! Please give them a break... calling them pigs is a tad harsh in my book... it's not like they intentionally prevented the child from receiving medical care. Calling the mutilator a 'pig' seems a LOT more sensible!

No, I'm sorry, they (the police) have lost all sense of human compassion.

Yes, I know our police are under extreme pressure, are poorly paid and witness horrendous events on a daily basis, but for crying out loud, they had the mutilated child there for an hour - they could have arranged some medical care, called in ambulances, a doctor something.

Re the mutilator/s, there are no words to describe their actions

So is Joe Public also exposed in their personal capacity - however if you consider yourself a human being with compassion than you make a plan.

Strangely enough they don't have any qualms playing taxi for friends or neglecting people in jail, or not responding to emergency calls - all of which they can also be sued for.

Why not say all South Africans are pigs? Those cops were SA'n cops.
Oh wait, why stop the generalisation even there, all PEOPLE are pigs.
If all people are pigs, that follows the little boy was a pig himself too.
Did it matter then if they called the ambulance for him or not, as he's a pig then?

See how absurd GENERALISATIONS are?

Cr@p, these police have no human morals, they are not human if they can do such a thing. And these are the folks the people in SA are suppose to be relying on. Human beings simply do not do things like this to fellow humans, its as simple as that.

You making out like the police have a lot of work to do, they are a bunch of lazy bast@rds.
 
The police cannot even manage a station, you expect them to be able to administer an internet forum? Highly unlikely

Because this shows how the police in this situation were uncompassionate pigs, you must have huge blinkers on if you can't see this.

So you justify the police doing nothing, even though a mutilated boy in desperate need of medical attention was in their "care" and the only reason he wasn't screaming his head off in pain was because his body was in so much shock from the trauma, but hey I'm a big brave policeman but policy says I can't transport someone to hospital and gee I need to pick my nose so I cant phone an ambulance - like what is the emergency number anyhow?

No, not really, the police were almost as bad as the attackers here, but you right, they shouldn’t be called pigs, they should be called uncompassionate #@%$%, but as you can’t say some words on the forum, pigs will have to do.
