over 2 years ago we went with a company called Legends connect - as we had no adsl or fibre - (still dont have either in our area)

So they came to the house - did a LOS - and we took a 2mb link with them. you just cant work on a 2mb link - and by the way its costing us R545!! We took a 2 year contract so installation was free.

So 2 years later (ie now) i start asking around for fibre and this lady phones me from a company called Screamer telecoms (midrand) saying they also do wireless...so i said send me your prices.....cut the story short - they provide 5mb for what we paying for 2!! So i did the obvious - come do a LOS

So they did LOS and not only did they do that - they left a piece of paper saying what capacity we can get - Not even legends did that! Well done there!!

Then i said ok lets go ahead - filled in the paper work - all good, then i get another request - They asked me if i would like a POC to see if we happy before we pay.....WOW now they are really impressing me!! Yes and it went in yesterday and guess what - its awesome - 5mb down and up - everything now just works like it should.

Well done screamer!! i would recommend them to anyone

Used them any moons ago. Glad to hear they are still around and have great service. Report back after a month or 2 please.

I'm hoping to sell my product for R350pm, 50mbps uncapped, also wireless

Well where do i buy?!

I've been struggling for the past few years to get my first project up and running in a residential suburb, but I received funding the beginning of this year and I'm hoping to start roll out in the next few months.

If the pilot is successful I hope to draft a "open source" business model as such and then you can try to replicate it in your area.

its not my ISP, it will essentially be owned and managed by the people using the internet, its a co-op model that I wish to spread since its worked so well in my own building

I'm just a facilitator of sorts

I made a thread a few years ago in the fibre section of this forum about the project I did in my building, thats about the only recorded information I have.

the chairman of the building gave it his endorsement last year at the AGM describing it as "the deal of the century"

My father owns part of this lot, never really knew they were that great as a few years ago i only heard screamer being shiiit. They just need more market penetration and all i think

I don't generally do this, but since you asked so nicely, here you go

I'm confused, basically a project that is only starting this year is getting endorsement from one person from last year, and then it's still being labeled a "pilot project" as well? Why not just gather people's interest rather to use the existing fibre infrastructure that is already in place?

I'm meeting with my funder perhaps this weekend to discuss the second stage of my project of giving people access to cheap and fast internet.

and I have absolutely no WISP experience, but since I started an ISP in my building a WISP can't be that difficult
