Our Zen CPU will outperform Intel Broadwell-E: AMD

Great to hear. Finally something worth upgrading to.

Performance won't matter so much if the thermal design is as awful as that RX 480.

Seeing the reviews of it, where it actually outperforms Intel's similar CPU would be believing to me.

AMD has been lagging behind Intel CPU's so long that it's become Moore's law in a way. Anyway, if they can pull it off whilst still remaining budget wise, that would be a good thing for the consumer but I seriously doubt that.

Moore's law is already dead. People don't buy AMD then blame them when they can't compete lol.

To be fair, they haven't offered chips worth buying since the Athlon XP. I've been a fan since their first chips came out that were cheaper and faster than Intel's. It's been a while since they've been able to compete on a similar level, though. I hope Zen can rectify that.

I want to see the actual results. AMD have lagged so far behind Intel, it's not even reported on any more.

I should start off by saying that the first CPU of the two, the eight core mode, is the very same one that was used for the leaked Ashes of The Singularity gaming benchmarks that we saw last week. An eight core, sixteen thread model clocked at a 2.8Ghz base frequency and a 3.2Ghz boost clock. The CPU’s ID string matches that of last week’s. It’s now been confirmed that this is indeed a 95W model, which speaks volumes to the power efficiency of Zen.

And what do you mean the thermal design on the RX480 is bad, it's quite a bit better than their last gen. It draws about the GTX980 level at idle.

Sorry but Athlon 64 wiped the floor with Intel and it took Intel quite a while to catch up. If it wasn't for AMD people would be on mega $$$ Itanium CPUs today.

Makes me wonder why they fell so far behind though.

Massive USA company vs little Canada company? But we do need to be thankful for AMD - without the competition we would most probably be way behind on current released tech.
