I applied for a CellC contract with the LG Optimus L7II through their website. I called them two days later after not receiving any response. They informed me that both the L5II and the L7II was not available any more as they were being discontinued. Why are they still listed as options on their 'Build your own contract' feature? I asked them to take note of this, but it is still there (as of 9 a.m. 9 July).

I saw a contract on Autopage's website for R135 for the Samsung Galaxy S3 mini on a Smart Light package (which is a great deal). I applied for it on Friday, but was informed that the information was incomplete and that they would call me within 48 hours to collect any outstanding info. This did not happen, and only after I sent an email about 5 o'clock Monday (the 8th) afternoon, did they call to say that the deal expired on Saturday.
1. I applied for it on Friday, but was not called back to complete the application.
2. It is still listed on their website! https://www.autopage.co.za/deals/samsung-galaxy-s3-mini-7

Is this normal? I should think that mobile and data oriented businesses should be able to keep their websites up to date.

Stay the hell away from Autopage, its not worth the initial saving. Been Autohell free for 4 years and now after being a client for 8 years.

^This!
I'd rather sell my soul to the devil before signing a contract with Autopage. Ever. Again.

Absolutely. Thank your lucky stars the deal wasn't available and you posted here. Stay away from Autopage!

Curious. My bother has an L7II on order from Cell C? He ordered it this past Saturday. AFAIK the standard L7 (P700) is discontinued.

That is very interesting. I'll call Cell C again to make sure. Could you find out whether he's satisfied with the L7II? One can never hear too many opinions.

Will do. He is expecting delivery nextweek Monday.

That said, why don't you opt for the L9? I think it is R29 more a month on the Straight up 200 package (24-Months).

I've read that the L7II has both a better camera and battery than the L9. I also don't like a screen larger than 4.3''. Cell C's weaker reception than Vodacom is also a factor, as we live in a place of horror for good reception.

Does not Compute. sure to each their own but if you are going to limit yourself on screen size then you should just go for an S2 (no clue where you can still find one though)

and no the mini Galaxy (whatever one you go for) is not a good plan it is just old S2 hardware in shaky new plastic.

If cost is the issue then it is understandable but it is kinda pointless to go for a weaker phone because of screen size preference.

I have an S2. it has served me well for 2 years. I have always said I like the Size and I dont want bigger. so I played around on an HTC one and a S4. the improved processor and bigger screen makes an incredible difference and now I am even considering a Note....

I understand what you mean. I would go for an S2 if I could find one. But I really do dislike these monstrous phablets that look and feel like one's holding an encyclopedia to one's ear. I want mid-range performance in a screen 4.3'' and smaller. The L7II and S3 mini seem the best options.

8ta/Telkom Mobile stores can still get you 16GB S2's. Not sure about the cash price though.

The S3 mini isn't even S2 hardware in a new case it's the novathor u8500 chipset with a slower cpu and crippled mali 400 gpu
