Hey everybody,

I attempted to install a nice little stereo set up on my verandah and failed miserably. I bought Dual LU43PW speakers (http://goo.gl/jBpGx) and the Lepai Tripath LP-2020A+ Class-T amp (http://goo.gl/4YbcG).

The combo of the above sounds terrible, I then hooked up the Dual's to my Sony reciever (KG800 or something like that) and that sounded terrible, I then hooked up my Sony bookshelf speakers to the Lepai, and yup, that sounded terrible as well. So ive sent the whole lot back again and am starting over.

Hopefully there are ppl on myBB that have done similar set ups and have managed to get good sound. Im not looking to deafen the neighbours, I just want good background braai sound.

What did you expect it to sound like when you're buying R300 speakers?

You need to drop R2k on a set of acceptable outdoor speakers at least.

Any recommendations? It's going to cost me a bundle to ship the duals back so I guess I'm stuck with them. Done a bit more research on the lepai amp. It looks like I can use that in a fun little mod project.

i use a pair of Bose "251 environment speakers" - got them at a good price. They have 6yr warranty, sound great.
Look around for a 2nd hand pair that have not been hammered.

You will often find that ppl that buy this type of product look after them - as a pair of speakers, they are out of range for most uni students wanting to party their tits off every weekend.

I also saw a pair of outdoor speakers somewhere for about R1500 for the set. Can't remember the brand unfortunately.

But if you can find Bose ones for decent money, then go for those.
