You should be able to use Mweb with authentication from any network.

Try SMTP.VBMAIL.CO.ZA. port 25, no authentication and no encryption. Saw this on another thread and it worked. I have been struggling with my dad’s pc for more than a month now

Hi, I am having a similar issue on my dad's phone.

i tried setting up the account on my own phone and it worked but for some reason on his phone down in Durbs smtp.vbmail.co.za on port 25 setup identically does not work. Anyone have a solution to this? - perhaps an alternative port or something or may know what could be causing this?

Had to resort to using the ISP one for the wifi at home which means he can't send mails when out of the house.

The onus is not on Vodacom but the company that hosts your email.

They are suppose to give you an SMTP that can work on any connection be it fibre or GSM.

ISPs don't like this...so Vodacom blocked port 25

(Dont pass on any hate messages for this :) ) - Issue is the mailbox is a Telkomsa email, to which the SMTP only works when on the home WIFI (whilst on the Telkom Fibre), this is fine for the Laptop etc, but the phone is where the issue lies when out at about.

I may at worst need to resort to setting up the Gmail workaround above, but was hoping there was a bit of an easier solution eg. an alternative port etc.

Your ISP is the problem they are not relaying your SMTP traffic over a foreign connection.

So Vodacom did the same by blocking port 25 traffic unauthenticated.

So ultimately your ISP is your go-to

Your email provider should be providing you with the sending server details (authenticated) over SSL (port 587).

If they don't have that, they're crap. Dump them and find a provider that actually knows how to handle email.
