Good day Chaps..

Need some help here...

Scenario as follows:

I have on Office Outlook 2003 archive. Upon opening the archive in question, Outlook pops up with a notification saying the following:

The file <path>Outlook.pst has reached its maximum size. To reduce the

amount of data in this file, select some items that you no longer need, then

permanently (shift + del) delete them.

As soon as I Click on OK Outlook closed the archive automatically and I cannot open the damn thing to Shift-Del some mails to change the size. I then opened copied the pst and tried to open in Outlook07. Same story happens.

Also, if I use Data File Management is says exactly the same.

From Microsoft website I downloaded a HOTFIX utility called KB2GB152 which is about the same patch as SCANPST (WHICH also doesnt work btw) after I scanned the file with the MS Hotfix is says "File is incompatible with your version of Outlook" I tried this on both 03/07 versions.

What else can I try? Or what utility can I get to help me. The current size of the PST is at 2.172GB. This is a business critical PST which I need to have access to ASAP.

Feedback would be fkn great!

Regards,

Unfortunately there’s a great chance that your PST could be corrupt. Once the file exceeds 2GB and you get error messages, it’s likely that the PST file is unsynchronized.

1. You can try Microsoft utilities but they might not work. Microsoft really doesn't have a way that helps you solve the oversized PST file problem satisfactorily.

“Oversized PST” and “OST crop tool” http://support.microsoft.com/kb/296088

2. Else, download an evaluation version of “Stellar Phoenix Outlook Pst Repair Software” and see if it can recover your PST file. If it works, you can buy the full version.

I had a similar problem with my outlook ‘ost’ file. I managed to solve the problem by cropping some emails using Microsoft’s “OST crop” tool to bring it below 2GB.

Good luck

This happened to my dad... I just created a new PST file and re-created all the folders. He could still open the old one and see his old e-mail. It will be fine as long as you don't try to perform any actions on it. Set Outlook to deliver new e-mail to the new PST file.

Or maybe use the Archive feature of Outlook?
