Hi all,

I need to backup a clients Outlook 2007.

I know how to manually backup the .pst file, but this user has a crap load of alerts / notifications.

If I manually backup the .pst ( Go to the folder in Windows and back it up ), does that include the notifications? I read that if you use Outlook's Backup / Restore function it doesn't backup rules, alerts etc.

I know how to backup the rules.

User has Windows 7 Home Basic

I just need to know how to backup the notifications / alerts she has. ( You know the one's that set off an alarm like a reminder and you can choose "Remind me again in 10 minutes" or whatever ).

Thank you

That is not me btw, but I do have a similar problem - and I'm sure I'm giving my techie endless nightmares (or just indigestion):

I had Outlook 2007 (Windows 7 Ultimate) but my mailbox had gotten too big (no alerts or stuff, just 7 years worth of very important client emails that I wanted to keep). So they helped me to save or recover my lost .pst files with some Utility something (as far as I can remember), and I decided to upgrade to Office 365 Online (20gb or so mailbox size), and all was working fine. Then thanks to numerous bouts of loadshedding (using a UPS), my PC crashed and I got to get a brand new PC; reloaded (or signed in again or whatever) on my Office 365 online, but now I've lost a large amount of emails (mid 2013 to Feb 2015).

My original C:drive (160gb) has now become a second drive, with a new 1TB as my main drive (C:drive), and my previous secondary drive (500gb) is now on an external permanently connected to my PC. Where the heck is my missing .pst files?

I've searched in all of the drives/program files/Outlook (15?) but do not see anything. I should take my PC in again, but I've got deadlines and I simply cannot afford to miss even 4 hours without it at the moment.

I've tried the very capable and friendly online Microsoft chat people, but only the 'sales and billing' people seem to be online, and seem to know even less than me.

Another thing - is anyone taking part in the 2016 Office Online preview/testing thingy? Since I'm obviously not a power user, would it be suicide to try it out? Be nice now...

Outlook in Office 2016 is working just fine.

The preview is valid for 180 days after which you will have to activate it with a valid activation code.
