Hi

I have created a rule in outlook 2010 that automatically cc's all emails sent from one of the two email accounts on the computer to a 3'rd party.

Whenever it does this it converts the email to plain text instead of html.

Is there some way of getting this to work properly?

This only happens when sending via the rule, sending directly to the person in the rule sends the email as html or Rich text (whichever I set it up as)

Hmmm, I know that this doesn't really help you, but I created a rule in Outlook 2010 to mimic what you are doing & the e-mail is received in the format in which it was sent.

Have you tried it on another workstation to see if it is limited to a single installation of Outlook 2010?!?

I must add that my e-mails are being handled via SMTP and not through an Exchange server.

I think it may be the exchange server causing this.

my 5 cents:

Outlook rules (normally) just do as they're told.
If a HTML rules-based email is being sent as plaint text then the contact being used in the rule has its MIME type is set to plain text.

If you have two accounts configured in Outlook what are they?
1 x Exchange account + 1 x POP or IMAP
or do you have no Exchange account and 2 x POP/IMAP?

If you're using an Exchange Server then you may have a conflict (2 x contact items, one defined on the PC (in Outlook contacts) and the other defined as an Exchange contact on the server - the one in the Global Address List)

a) Check the contact item on Exchange Server and change the MIME type to "HTML".
b) or, delete and setup the rule again from scratch,
During rule creation, when you select "to people or distribution list" select the contact from your Outlook contacts and NOT the one from the Global Address List.

got it sorted in the end.

Had to create a forwarding user for the cc and recreated the rule, this time using the global address list.
