Outlook 2016

Hey guys,

I want to backup Outlook 2016 data, but it must include:

All the e-mails ( Inbox, sent, deleted items etc etc )
Contacts
Reminders
Rules
Tasks
etc etc

I want to backup an e-mail, but I want it to backup everything.

Do i just copy the .pst file? Does that file contain everything?

Or must I do the export thing from within Outlook itself?

It's a POP3 account.

emails, contacts, calendar & tasks are all saved/stored in a single file (.pst)
rules would need t be exported separately.

Just a heads up for the future for email backup.

Send all your email through a GMail account. You now haven online backup of all your email. Also works well as a spam filter. GMail can go and fetch email from another account. Also you email is now available on your smartphone too.

Use Outlook's import/export tool.

in Outlook click:

file
open & export
import/export
export to a file
Outlook data file (.PST)
select the mailbox you want to export
check the box that says "include subfolders"
do not create duplicates (or create them, if they exist, your choice)
give the .PST a name & location
click OK.


Rules need to be exported via the "rules" button. (main window in Outlook, top menu bar)
once the "rules" window is open click on "options"
then click on "export rules".


On the new PC:
a) setup the email account
b) import the .PST
c) import the rules.
