outlook express problems re sending mail

hi all! please help

i am battling to send email vide OE. however im able to receive email but as stated i cannot send. i am able to send vide msn and yahoo messangers.
i have pretty much updated anti-virus software etc...problem is i have never emailed with my laptop, always using the home pc.since that PC is in for repairs, i added OE to my laptop, and now i sit with this problem. the error reads as follows"

The message could not be sent because one of the recipients was rejected by the server. The rejected e-mail address was '[email protected]'. Subject 'Re: Link to fool friends', Account: 'telkom', Server: 'SMTP.telkomsa.net', Protocol: SMTP, Server Response: '553 sorry, relaying denied from your location [165.145.125.246] (#5.7.1)', Port: 25, Secure(SSL): No, Server Error: 553, Error Number: 0x800CCC79"

I would be interested in the answer as well, as about 1 in every 50 emails gets this error, which is turning out to be big headache for my company

Try changing your smtp server to smtp.saix.net under OE -> Tools -> Accounts -> Telkom -> Properties -> Servers

Also make sure you are using the correct recipient address.

When you are using your laptop what ISP are you connecting to? It sounds like an ISP other than Telkom, and so Telkom's SMTP server is refusing to send for you ( ISP convention to limit spammers relaying through their SMTP servers ). You would need to find the name of the SMTP server for the ISP you are using.

Or have I got it wrong?

Jabulani - Your answer is correct.

But the reverse lookup for IP 165.145.125.246 resolves to dsl-145-125-246.telkomadsl.co.za, which is a Telkom host.

It may be that smtp.telkomsa.net is blocked by a spam blacklist, or that it is experiencing problems.
