Hey guys

Does anyone know how to disable Outlook password request and enable it permanently? I am tired of having to enter a password every time I open Outlook (I use a private laptop).

Thanks guys

i never knew outlook had a thing like that..well go to the office help icon in outlook and ask it by typing in switch password off..hope this helps

I assume you are connecting to exchange on a domain and have a laptop that's not on the domain?

Something fixes this, because I no longer have to enter my password when connected to my company exchange server (I used to) ... but I do when connecting at the client I'm currently at. Never joined either domain.

Sorry!

inside outlook, click on:
tools -> email accounts -> view or change email accounts -> click on the account name -> change -> More settings -> security tab -> uncheck "always prompt for username and password"

i might have left something out, so post if you get stuck?

That should do the trick.;)

If it's just the password, it probably means your PST folder is locked. To fix this:
* Make sure you're in Folder view
* Right-click on the store's name (usually "Personal Folder"), and choose Properties
* Click "Advanced"
* Click on the "Change Password" button.

you should have a list of folders on the left side of your outlook,
find "Personal Folders" in there and right click on it, select "Properties for Personal Folders" -> advanced -> change password to nothing...

When I right click my Personal Folders there's no such option at all!!!
That option is only available when I right click my Inbox (with my name on it).

So, if I change the password to nothing, will this affect my password, e.g. I sometimes access my work mails from different pc's (internet cafe)?

I doubt you can change your Exchange password through Outlook, so it shouldn't have any effect...

btw I tried this too - I don't see any such setting for the Exchange service, only for internet-email services. (Outlook 2000)

When you're on a domain (and synchronizing with an Exchange server) Outlook won't ask for a password (unless the administrator changed the password when the user was logged in).

Outside of the domain, Outlook (as does Thunderbird) will ask you for a password, but when you tick the "remember password" box it should remember the password for every session.

Libs, there is no 'remember password' box for that second case, at least not with OL 2000. But as I said somewhere above, something must enable this because I don't need to enter a password any more logging onto my company exchange server. Just another think Microsoft have not made easily accessible!
