Outlook - To free up disc space...

Can anyone explain Outlook Expresses compulsive need to free up disc space by compacting messages?

At the rate i'm going, it's going to take 3/400 years to fill my HD with email. I had no idea emails were such a threat to HD capacity. Or is this a cover-up for more Microsoft bungling?

Ah, Outlook Express, from the days of Windows XP. Hard drives had much smaller capacities and thats why it does it.

These damn awful folders somewhere very deep under Program Files so if you forgot to back them up before a format... Similar with Outlook 2003. Luckily they get put into My Documents now, MS finally got smart.

This is really out of date program. Windows Live Mail isn't much better. Try Mozilla Thunderbird
