Outlook VCalandar files on Gmail.

I have just received an email from a business associate on Gmail. The email is blank with an attachment called 'noname' which is a textfile (XML?) that starts:

BEGIN:VCALENDAR
PRODID:-//Microsoft Corporation//Outlook 12.0 MIMEDIR//EN
VERSION:2.0
METHOD:REQUEST
X-MS-OLK-FORCEINSPECTOROPEN:TRUE
BEGIN:VEVENT

Is there a technique to read and write these file so that I can return information to the guy so that his Outlook (spit!) can read it?
