OK so my oven light, the red one that indicates that it is on, fell into the inside of the oven. I open it up and push it back into place. Everything seemed fine and was working before I put it back together.

But the knob was turning the whole switch assembly with it. Just enough to knock the light out of its place, which is what happened the first time I would imagine. Only thus time the little light shorted and everything tripped. But now nothing works. The mains switch does not do anything. No lights, plugs etc

I'm guessing it's a circuit breaker that needs to be replaced on the db? So not much I can do till the electrician can come tomorrow?

Just to cover the obvious...did you disconnect the oven before trying to reset the main switch?

Single switch.
It's the red light that indicates that oven on when turning the knob. It's still connected to the oven.

If that red light is broken [glass broken ] it can short against the metal and trip the power. Try to remove it away from metal.

If trip still trip, there is a problem in oven, another problem.

OK but the oven is off now. Both on the wall switch an the db. But mains still won't power on anything else. Why would that be?

So all of the breakers including the earth leakage is up (excluding the oven). Is your DB board running through another DB (i.e. garden flat DB running under the main house DB? If so it might have tripped there, otherwise it is possibly a defective breaker.

Or single switch, the neutral having a problem. It he can isolate the oven with isolator, then the db board or a trip on another db [as Frikkie said} is the problem.

please do not shock yourself.

All up except the stove. It's a flat, so possibly could be running through another db.
