over- or under-steering? what do you prefer?

I prefer oversteer! Understeer is safer, but no fun at all, especially at a race track, id rather oversteer and spin out, losing all my momentum, than understeer off the track, crashing into the wall. On the faster corners understeer is is a biatch to correct: if you brake, you crash, if you lift off, you crash. So what you do, is commit to the corner, grind your teeth and hope that somehow the car stays on the blackstuff :D

Although I think oversteer is more fun, understeering isn't that bad... yes, in a corner if you understeer and you brake remove the balance of the car skid out, but it is easy to correct by lifting off slightly... so you don't have to grind your teeth and hope your car stays on the black stuff, you just need to know how to use it...

I almost hit the wall Wednesday at Zwartkops, went in too fast into the frist corner, i did lift off slightly and made it, but i almost shat myself ;)

I've bee in a similar scenario at Zwartkops on that corner and the first corner after the long back straight (was trying to out brake somebody)... but fact is, it's pretty easy to correct... hence why so many cars are fwd...

Nope, the one before the hairpin. I like the hairpin, someone showed me a line, and its just working perfectly for me :)

Oh yes, the first turn with the negative camber does work on my nerves as well... especially seeing that a couple of people have rolled their cars there... :p

But yes the hairpin is interesting, I tend to gain a bit in it...

What car do you have?

When i was there Wednesday, a guy in an Arial Atom crashed into the barrier just before turn 4 (the right hander going up the hill). I think his steering broke, but he looked P!553d.

Ah, i love that car, the only thing i don't like about the ST is the fuel economy :)

Fuel economy isn't too bad... I get around 510 km average on a tank, sure it's not the best, but it's not bad either considering the engine size and performance...

Understeer - you end up in the corn field on the left.

Oversteer - you end up in the corn field on the right.

Point is, you end up in the corn field either way. :D
